Teddy on a Mission

Just so you know, I am a traveling bear. This is a place where I can share text & pictures of the fun (and hopefully worthwhile) things I do with my unparents, Ken and Marijke.

Name:
Location: Greer, South Carolina, United States

I started this blog for the bear-loving friends in my church mostly since they were kind enough to send me on a mission trip to France. That was in 2006. Hopefully I'll get to go on other trips, too (like this most recent extended trip in 2009). But my main mission is to bear each blessed day with gratitude.

Between Towns and Cathedrals

K, M and I always enjoy travelling in Europe. We like to spy on interesting cities along the way. One time we found this fruit just falling off the trees at a rest stop. Often we meet interesting people like Nigel and Audrey from England. Cathedrals like this one in Reims are worth more than just a passing glance, though.

It seems that there wasn't a castle or cathedral in all our travels that didn't have some sort of renovation being done to it. Makes for trickier pictures, that's for sure.

One thing's for sure, though, there was always a stitching project going on 'cause I can do that with my eyes on the road. (No, I don't drive at the same time.) These colors were being worked up into some Birthday Blocks which will be kept at Oma's house. That way she'll have a grandchild's initial and his or her birthdate right there to help her keep them all straight! Imagine! Six girls within 2-1/2 years. Five boys within 3-1/2!! Won't they have fun - and won't Oma and Pops get mixed up!!

Reminders of Home Again

As a diversion, here's a picture of a kid we saw that could be Will younger or Red older. What does everyone think? You can't tell how rambunctious he was by this shot, though - that was where the true similarity lay.

Fleury - Sight of Another Sad War Memory

Ken, Marijke and I didn't spend a long time here but were glad we did. Picnicing where houses and shops used to stand really makes one reflective!

Verdun - Historical Stop for Sure

Remember Joan Baez' song: "Where Have all the Flowers Gone?"

This is a beautiful city but the reality of it all made it a difficult place to visit.

Florentine in Groningan?

Yes, Marijke's dear cousin moved with her growing family to a town way 'up north' of Holland. Visiting was such a delight. Not only did we get to see how much more 'room to grow' there was for the babes and adults but we were treated to a great cycling trip around town as well as both lunch AND dinner. Thanks so much, Guys - we'll tell everyone to come see you, if you like! It's not THAT far, after all!

Happy Jippe just before getting stung by a dinner bee...

Can you find me in these two pictures? I like to do this 'Where's Waldo' thing, in case you hadn't noticed - Teddy.

P.S. It's already September and I AM back in the USofA! If it's OK with y'all, though, I'll keep on bloggin' 'til I'm through...
