Teddy on a Mission

Just so you know, I am a traveling bear. This is a place where I can share text & pictures of the fun (and hopefully worthwhile) things I do with my unparents, Ken and Marijke.

Name:
Location: Greer, South Carolina, United States

I started this blog for the bear-loving friends in my church mostly since they were kind enough to send me on a mission trip to France. That was in 2006. Hopefully I'll get to go on other trips, too (like this most recent extended trip in 2009). But my main mission is to bear each blessed day with gratitude.

Parts of Rotterdam NOT to Miss

Check out this picture that I found the other day! This is Marijke with her sibs and 'rents. Cool, eh? 1972, to be exact.

By now everyone knows that I'm basically a home-bear (I found the above old wedding picture at Hans & Anke's, by the way - and the other picture is of me reading my favorite magazine).

For sure I love this couple's home so much that I rarely venture too far from it (or the neighboring lake) when I'm staying there. (Well, there WAS that 35 km bike ride, of course and we did investigate the market and downtown shops.)

But Ken and Marijke rode in a different direction the other day and discovered a new part of Rotterdam that they hadn't seen before - DUH. It was a trip worth repeating the next day with Thomas - right down to the nice restaurant we happened upon. He didn't get to see the tango concert in the park, though - or the daredevils who were hanging from ropes off the Euromast tower. But he did get to see the outdoor flag and maritime museums as well as the streetcars and the fun buildings like these cubes and pencil ones.

Is that sport called spilaying or something? I think I'd like to try it one day but I'd have to be sober to do it. I never overdo the wine, as you know but I say that because a lot of the buildings in this city have quite adifferent degrees of hangovers! Hee Hee. Get it?

There's a motto here somewhere: there's a LOT to see in a town when you just get out the house!
But, on the other hand, I could be taking pictures all day long in a thousand cities and never have time to write about them or share the pics.

Trying to be a balanced bear, Teddy

P.S. Rotterdam, we'll ALL be back one day (especially to see our dear relatives!).

They will - it's just a shame that Pops isn't in this photo, eh?
